User Safety
We’re here for you!
We made Matchly as a place where you can be your real, honest, authentic self. Silly, somber, sassy, and everything in between. But what’s not OK — what’s never OK — is attacking, intimidating, or otherwise being unkind to others. We’re talking about bullying, and it can take lots of different forms. Stopping it is a team effort, so here’s a rundown of how bullying is handled on Matchly: how we keep users safe and what to do if you see it happening.
How does Matchly keep users safe?
Our number one priority is keeping our users safe, happy, and engaged. After all, we want you to have fun on the app! But like all social media, Matchly comes with problems. It’s unavoidable, but there are ways to keep it at bay and to make sure you have an awesome experience. We also have a dedicated safety team who are ready to act swiftly on reports of abuse. Email safety@matchly.me to get in touch. You can also read more about staying safe on Matchly here.
What should I do if I see bullying on Matchly?
This is where the power of community comes in. If you see something, say something! Report abuse by emailing our safety team right away. Get in touch with us at safety@matchly.me and we can review the situation and take the necessary steps to ensure your safety.
I’m being bullied on Matchly. What now?
First of all, know that you’re not alone. Bullying happens to almost everyone. Even superstars who seem untouchable, like Billie Eilish and Kehlani, have been bullied. It’s an unfortunate part of life, but it doesn’t have to take over your life. If you’re the target of bullying on Matchly, we’re here for you and can help you handle it in the best way possible. For starters, don’t engage with the bullies. No matter how much you may want to defend yourself, the best response is a wall of silence. Then, take the following three steps to get your account back on track:
1. Block the sender
2. Report the message to the Matchly team
3. Delete the app for a few days

What should I do?
We at Matchly do our best to keep our incredible community safe. However, sometimes a message can still leave you feeling threatened, unsafe, or uneasy, and you may want to take additional measures to ensure your safety and wellbeing. If you receive a message on Matchly that leaves you feeling this way, here are some steps to take to keep you safe:
1. Block the sender.
2. Report the message to the Matchly team.
3. Tell a parent, guardian, or other trusted adult.
4. If necessary, call 911 or contact mental health services (such as those linked at the end of this page).
I saw something illegal occur on Matchly. What do I do?
At Matchly, we strictly forbid any illegal or criminal activity from occurring on the app. If you see something that you believe may be illegal on Matchly, get in touch with us at safety@matchly.me so that we can remove the content, ban the user, and secure the Matchly community. If necessary, we will also pass this information up to law enforcement to take the appropriate action towards the culprit. Your safety and the safety of our community at large is of utmost importance to us, so if you see something, say something!
Getting back to feeling good
Afterwards, you might still be feeling a little stung — bullying hurts, and your feelings about that are valid! So it’s important to be kind to yourself so you can get back to feeling good. Here are some self-care ideas that might help:
1. Connect with your tribe of people who love and support you
2. Remember what makes you uniquely you
3. Engage in an offline activity you love, like dancing or painting
4. Zone out with a favorite TV show, movie, or book
